Alton Towers in a nutshell

Alton Towers is the UK's biggest theme park and home to some of the most famous rollercoasters in the country.

Nemesis, Wicker Man, Oblivion, Rita, TH13TEEN and Galactica are all there, among loads more. There’s family rides, themed attractions and CBeebies Land for younger children. A full day rarely feels long enough because there is simply so much to fit in.

The mix of thrill rides and family attractions are great for families of all ages, and groups too. Younger children meeting CBeebies characters and adults who just want an excuse to eat doughnuts and wander around the park can all find something to do.

The resort also includes themed hotels, a waterpark and short-break packages, turning what could be a day trip into a full weekend away.

Alton Towers pricing

Theme park days out can become expensive surprisingly quickly once tickets, parking, food and drinks start getting added to the basket.

The discount helps take a bit of the sting out of the ticket price, particularly for families buying multiple tickets at once. Saving 10% on a family booking is a fair amount.

Short-break packages cost more upfront but can work out better value if you're planning to visit the park for more than one day and want to make use of the hotels or waterpark.

Our thoughts

Few places in the UK create the same level of excitement as Alton Towers does. Imagine walking through the gates and hearing the screams from the rollercoasters in the distance. It’s exciting, even if you've been before.

Nemesis remains one of the best rollercoasters in the country and Wicker Man has become a favourite for plenty of visitors, but there are enough rides and attractions here that everyone tends to come away with a different highlight.

Alton Towers gets the balance right between thrill rides and family attractions, which means groups with completely different interests can still have a brilliant day out together. We’re huge fans ourselves, it’s great.
