Crazy Egg in a nutshell

Crazy Egg helps you see exactly how people use your website, and sometimes it’s quite a surprise.

Most website owners think visitors behave in a certain way until they watch somebody actually use the site. Buttons get ignored, people click things that aren’t clickable, important information gets missed and pages that seemed perfectly obvious suddenly aren’t quite so obvious anymore.

That’s where Crazy Egg comes in. Heatmaps, click tracking, scroll maps, A/B testing and visitor recordings all help show what’s really happening instead of relying on guesswork, making it much easier to spot little problems that could be costing you sales, enquiries or sign ups.

Watching your first visitor recording is usually when you realise, actually this tool might be worth it. You’ll almost certainly spot something you hadn’t noticed before, whether that’s somebody struggling to find a button, giving up halfway through a form or completely missing the information you thought was impossible to overlook.

Our thoughts

Crazy Egg is one of those products that’s very addictive once you start using it, because it’s super interesting watching real people interact with your baby, your website. You quickly realise visitors don’t always do what you expected, and sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference.

We’ve all looked at a website and thought an idea was obvious, such as a button somewhere screaming ‘buy me now’, only to watch somebody completely miss it. Crazy Egg has a habit of proving those assumptions wrong, which is exactly why it’s so useful. Instead of guessing why people aren’t converting, you can often see the problem happening right in front of you.

The visitor recordings are probably our favourite feature because they tell a story that analytics never can. Numbers might tell you people are leaving a page, but watching somebody hesitate, scroll around in circles or abandon a checkout halfway through usually tells you why.

If you run a website, online shop or generate leads online, Crazy Egg feels like one of those tools that’s well worth trying because even a tiny improvement in conversion rates can easily pay for the subscription many times over.
