Diggerland in a nutshell

Diggerland is exactly what it sounds like.

It's a theme park where the main attraction is diggers, dumpers and construction machinery. Which sounds completely ridiculous until you visit and realise it's actually brilliant.

Kids absolutely love it. The chance to drive, ride and operate real construction equipment is apparently far more exciting than most adults give it credit for. To be fair, quite a few adults seem to enjoy it too.

Diggerland is one of those places that's difficult to explain to someone who's never been. Most people hear the name and laugh. Then they go and end up spending the whole day there.

Somehow they've managed to build an entire day out around construction machinery and made it work. There aren't many places where you can drive a digger, ride in a dumper truck and then spend the rest of the afternoon trying to convince your child it's time to go home.

The best part is that Diggerland knows exactly what it is. It doesn't try to compete with Alton Towers or Thorpe Park. It leans fully into the construction theme and somehow makes it work.

Diggerland pricing

A family day out isn't cheap these days.

Between tickets, food, drinks and the inevitable gift shop visit, the cost can quickly add up.

A family day out can get expensive very quickly these days. Blink and you've somehow spent £80 on tickets, lunch and a gift shop visit that nobody needed.

At least with Diggerland you're getting something genuinely different.

The thing we like is that it's genuinely different. There aren't many places where you can spend the day driving diggers and riding around in construction vehicles.

If you're looking for something a bit different from the usual soft play centres, cinemas and bowling alleys, Diggerland is worth considering.

Diggerland pros and cons

  • Kids absolutely love it
  • Lots of hands-on activities
  • Great for children who love vehicles and machinery

Cons

  • Not much use if your child has no interest in diggers
  • Some attractions have height and age restrictions

Our thoughts

We love the fact Diggerland exists.

It sounds like somebody came up with the idea in a pub after a few drinks and somehow managed to turn it into a successful business.

Most attractions are fairly predictable. Diggerland isn't. It's weird, it's different and that's exactly why people remember it.

If you've got a child who's obsessed with diggers, trucks, tractors or anything with an engine, there's a good chance they'll think this is the best day out ever.

And let's be honest, plenty of adults secretly want a go on the diggers too.
